Groom Lake road from Hwy 375, not sure who was driving the grader but he did give us the evil eye, could have been Steve Medlin, the rancher who has the "black mailbox". He headed off that way toward the ranch. Probably sick of tourists I guess.
Groom Lake road as we approach the border, there is a hill to the right blocking us from view of the cammo dudes but not the camera.
Here is the security patrol on the other side of the road just behind the border. They have a tripod with BIG binoculars mounted on it and a canvas cover. We found them here on our trip waiting. They wouldn't even get out or cross to our side of the border during the day.
Hard to make out but right in the middle of this pic is a tripod and camera on a hill at the border on Groom Lake Rd. to the left if you are headed toward the base.
Sandia labs next to the TTR (Tonopah Test Range). There is a road that leads here from Hwy 6 about 20 miles long. From there we found an old abandoned ranch where we ditched the car. And about a half hour hike to a small hill with plenty of rocks to hide behind. We took pictures and watched with 50X scopes for 4 or 5 hours and later found out we shouldn't have made it that close without getting caught, but who knows. It looked legal to me.
